Have you ever gone to church, listened to the pastor preach the "gospel," and come away feeling like it wasn't good news? Why is that? I offer Paul's explanation here when he said to the church at Galatia, "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ" (Galatians 1:6, 7). That's it! There are some who, knowingly or unknowingly, are perverting the gospel.
Paul goes on to say "even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8). Wow! Paul wasn't playing around, and it tells me that we shouldn't either. So what is the gospel of Christ, and what does it look like when lived out in our lives?
