Darren Gronewold, Head Elder
Darren has been a member of the Enumclaw Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church for the past 15 years. Darren works as an Account Executive for a national company providing products and services for the energy industry. Darren came to the SDA church through his wife Sharon Covington and was baptized during an evangelistic series. Laurie Sim, Elder
Laurie Sim and her husband, Sovath, have been living in the area for 18 years following several years spent in the mission field in Thailand when their daughter was young. Laurie has been working as a Registered Nurse for multiple decades and began her career serving as a volunteer nurse in the Cambodian refugee camps on the Thailand/Cambodia border. Later she met Sovath, a former refugee, in France and they were married in 1991. They have one daughter who is serving with her husband and 3 children in Cambodia as a missionary. Laurie is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and is passionate about educating people regarding health and disease prevention. She is an avid gardener as well and loves sharing her surplus with her neighbors. Jesus is the center of Laurie’s life and she is not ashamed to share that with neighbors and friends. She believes Jesus is coming soon and our mission is to reach our community for Jesus.
Denise Henry, Elder
I have been a member of Enumclaw SDA church for 30 years. I am a wife, a mother, a grandma, and spent most of my adult life teaching in infant intervention, directing child care centers and teaching in Christian elementary schools. My ministry passion is that everyone knows they don’t have to ‘be good enough’ to come to Jesus. We can’t (on our own), and He already was good enough! His record can be mine by living in a faith relationship with Him. I believe that if we truly know God’s character of love, we will be drawn to Him and become more like Him day by day. Our lives will be blessed and we will want to bless others for their good and God’s glory.
Karen Hackett, Elder
Karen was fortunate to have been taught by her parents from birth that “Jesus Loves her”. That translated into “Jesus Loves all human beings”. In high school she discovered one of her greatest joys; leading Sabbath School lesson study. After marrying, she & her late husband led Sabbath School lesson study together. Her career in nursing gave Karen the opportunity to pray with many patients and their families. In 2012, Karen joined the WA Conference 6 am prayer call; every morning since she has seen God’s love working in lives. Eagerly Karen looks to see Jesus soon return to take us home and loves to share that good news with others.
